College Counseling

1

College Selections & Admissions

The first step of the college counseling process involves creating and/or revising the student’s list of prospective colleges. We’ll take into account the student’s wants, their choice of majors and minors, and compare the student's academic profile to the admissions data of the schools on the list. We’ll make sure the final list includes sufficient Safety schools (surefire admission), Target schools (expected admission), and Reach schools (selective admission).

2

Essay Support

The essay process begins after school selection. We’ll review example essays, brainstorm essay topics, and perform the necessary research to write any supplemental essay prompts required by schools on the list. The student will then write first drafts of the essays, after which we’ll complete several rounds of revisions until the essays are complete.

Apply!

After we complete the essay-writing process, we'll double and triple-check the rest of the application documents, follow up on the letters of recommendation, review the student's activities list and/or resume, and send the applications!

Be aware that Early Action and Early Decision deadlines are often 10/15 or 11/1 and Regular Decision deadlines are often in January and February.

“We are so thankful for all of [Max's] time, support and guidance throughout the [test prep] process and helping so much with the essays! We and he could not have done it without [Max] and we are so grateful. Thanks to [Max's] (and our son's) effort, [our son] was offered a total of $802,000 in merit scholarship money from all schools for all years. Quite an impressive haul!”
